Mixed Emotions

Now that Connor is two, and has a big boy bed, it's about time to actually put him in it. Jon has to put up the reading light on the wall and the video monitor and then we're ready. We borrowed a bed rail and have the other side of the bed pushed up against the wall. He goes in and plays and lays in the bed. Maybe we'll try it for a nap later today. Maybe :)

I don't know, we have such a nice routine at night, I hate to give it up. It's so nice to read to him on my lap and have him snuggle while singing our songs. Especially when he joins in :) He sings most of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". I know he can't stay in his crib forever. He's already too long/tall for it and has climbed out twice. But he's my baby...

He's growing up so fast. He knows his ABCs and counts to 10 on his own. He usually skips 1-2 letters and won't do it on command, but he does it!

Maybe you can crawl up in his bed and cuddle with him there? You shouldn't need to give up on the night routines just because he has a new bed. Just adjust them a little, I guess.

It's hard to watch your babies become little people and later teenagers. It's important not to give up little routines that you both love. I am sure you'll find a way to keep your special evening time going.

Ahh. I remember when we transitioned my son into a big boy bed. I was pleasantly surprised that he handled it better than I expected him to. Good luck!!!

My kids were always sooo happy to get into their "big boy or girl bed". Often though, in the middle of the night, it was a different situation! I would always snuggle with them and we'd sing a song together. I've found that letting them listen to music or even better a book on cd or tape works wonders and is something they really enjoy.
